Recycle
Recycling metal, glass, paper and cutting back on consumption of items that are wasteful can help the environment.
-
Change diet
Shifting diet from highly processed foods, meat and sugar toward foods that are more natural can help lead a healthy, simple lifestyle.
-
Change transportation modes
Find alternatives such as public transit, car pooling, smaller and more fuel-efficient autos, living closer to work, riding a bike, and walking.
-
Downsizing your living situation
This can help to reduce the clutter and also more responsibilities. My parents are thinking of going to a retirement community because there is less maintenance and work around the home.

5 ways I simplified my life

Letting go of things I don’t use anymore
Recently I moved into a condo. This was a great opportunity for me to clean my clutter. I didn’t realized how many things I kept that I do not use on a regular basis. I let go of about 50% of my furniture, clothes, books, magazines that I had kept for over 20 years.
-
Drink water more often
Water is healthy, cheap, and simple.
-
Drive a fuel-efficient car
Not only is this safer for the environment, but also it costs less for me.
One way to schedule a day at the Magic Kingdom
Recently my fiance and I had the opportunity to go to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. In order to maximize our time, we planned ahead. This is a sample of my itinerary for July 3rd. It was a busy day in the park, but we were still able to see a lot of the attractions.
Started at 11:30 AM. First made our way toward Adventureland to eat lunch at the quick service eatery El Pirata y El Perico Restaurante. Located across from the Pirates of the Caribbean, the menu includes tacos, veggie taco and a taco salad. I had the taco sald, which was really good.
5 great websites to check out before going to Walt Disney World
![]() |
Currently, I am in the middle of planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. During my web surfing, I came across helpful websites that each have great tips on planning for a great vacation.
Register and there are a variety of tools to help you plan. You can create and save your own itinerary. It is an easy way to plan out in detail where you want to go on what day. You can also create your own personalized colored map. Disney will send this to you for free or you can print it in your own home. Also through this Disney homepage, you can also order a free vacation planning DVD.
How to effectively unclutter and organize for the new year

-
Triage by area
Prioritize. I usually prioritize from the areas of most damage because I used those places the most. Questions I ask when triaging are: Which areas need the most cleaning? Which areas are utilized the most? Which can be sacrificed until later?
-
One place at a time
Cleaning/ organizing is much more manageable in pieces. Just as a Nobel award winning author wouldn’t write a 300 page novel in 1 day, nor should anyone have to clean their entire house in 1 day. You can be productive and effective.
5 things to think about when traveling international

-
Think about the weather
Depending on the time of year and part of the world, weather can drastically change. It may be sunny in California but rainy in London. With the internet, it is now easy to predict the weather and plan accordingly.
-
“When in Rome do as the Romans.” There are certain culturally nuances to take into consideration when traveling internationally. For example in rural China, people do not wear shorts as that is considered rude. In Saudi Arabia, women must be fully covered and they cannot show their faces in public.
How to prioritize your tasks effectively

-
Write out a to-do list
Rather than thinking about the tasks, it can help to organize thoughts when they are on paper or on a computer screen. Sometimes you may find that there are actually not that many things to do or the amount is reasonable. It is also easier to shift around tasks and prioritize.
-
Determine which task is most important
Figure out why each task is important. Is it because the consequences are severe? Ex. working on an important project for work vs. mowing the lawn. True the grass may grow a little longer, but if you don’t work on the project for work, you could get fired. Another question to ask is whether there is a deadline or not.
Three reasons why we need to prioritize

-
We have a lot to juggle
-
At work we have different deadlines and more than one project being thrown at you at once.
-
We have to balance work with life: friends, family, marriage, children, spirituality.
-
At school, there are assignments and projects that need to be completed.
-
We have to maintain extracurricular activities such as sports and various hobbies (art, music).

5 things that I do to create memories on my vacation

Whenever I travel, I have three parts: a travel checklist of supplies I carry with me, keep in mind ways to reduce travel stress, and lastly things to create memories and add to my scrapbooking.
-
Take pictures
Photos are a great way to preserve memories. With digital cameras, it has even been easier. I usually download the photos onto Shutterfly and then I can order the ones I like, as well as work on various projects through the site.
-
Record videos
This takes more work, but is worth it on longer trips. Sometimes I will take out a small video camera to record a video diary on my trips.
