8 Tips to Energize Your Life

There never seems to be enough hours in the day to get it all done, does there? Instead of wishing for longer days, try working toward a higher energy level that will make the precious hours you do have that much more productive.

Revitalize with these eight tips, which can help you to energize your life so you can “get it all done” – all without sacrificing your physical, mental and emotional health.

  • Wake at the Same Time Every Day

When your body is functioning on a regular cycle, it will know how much energy it needs to get through a full day. The best way to set your body on a biological clock is to go to bed and wake up at about the same time every day. While you might miss those lazy weekend mornings initially, the increases in your energy level will more than make up for it. You might even begin rising before the dreaded alarm clock sounds!

  • Get Your Blood Pumping

Once your eyes are open, wake up your cardiovascular system with a few simple exercises. While you are brushing your teeth in the morning, try rolling up and down on your toes a few times. When your blood starts flowing more efficiently, nutrients are carried through your bloodstream to feed your organs and wake up the rest of your body. The result is an energized feeling that will carry you through many of your morning hours.

  • Drink Water

When we are dehydrated, we tend to lose steam, so sufficient water intake is essential to an energized way of life. Most experts recommend drinking at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water every day – or more if you are dealing with especially hot weather or working out extensively. Grab that first glass as soon as you wake up in the morning for a healthy dose of hydration and a burst of energy to start your day off on the right foot.

  • Add Raw Foods to Your Repertoire

Nothing saps the energy reservoir faster than food that wreaks havoc with your blood sugar levels. Instead of indulging in sugary foods throughout the day, satisfy your sweet tooth with fresh fruits that taste good and help your blood sugar maintain an even keel. When you don’t suffer from those severe blood sugar drops, you will be less likely to experience the bouts of fatigue that often accompany them.

  • Take a Mental Break

It may seem counterproductive to take time to rest when you are already feeling tired, but mental health breaks throughout the day actually serve to effectively energize the body. When your body is under stress, the hormones released can exhaust the body much more quickly. By combating the stress and tension, you keep your hormone levels under control and maintain a more stable energy level as well.

  • Get Some Sun

As long as you are properly protecting your skin from harmful UV rays, some time in the sun can be a great way to revive and refresh a tired body. Take a walk outdoors in the morning or on your lunch hour to get your blood pumping at the same time. Even if you just head outdoor to soak up a bit of warmth and some all important vitamin D, your body will feel like new when you head back inside again.

  • Beware Energy Drains

Bad attitudes, bad news and gossip all can sap your energy, leaving you feeling drained and depressed. Avoid those energy drains whenever possible by limiting your time in front of the television news and reading the latest stories on the Internet. Do not spend too much time with people who tend to gossip and complain, whenever you can help it. Cultivate an attitude of thankfulness and count your blessings instead, and your energy levels will naturally increase.

  • Use Aromatherapy

Certain scents, like lavender and citrus, have been proven to bolster energy levels and spirits the natural way. Start your day by bathing with lavender soap, or try a spritz of grapefruit in the afternoon when energy levels start to drag. Keep a few drops of essential oil in a diffuser near your desk or dab a bit on your wrists to remain pumped during the times of day when you typically battle fatigue.

More energy means higher productivity and an improved quality of life overall. Try these simple tips to pump up your energy levels and enjoy the boost your mind, body and spirit receive when your energy remains high all day long.
