5 ways couples can argue fairly

Every couple, no matter how close they are can get into a fight. It is important to bear in mind that fights or arguments are ways in which couples try to want to make the other person understand how they are feeling. Disagreements can come up so it is important to keep in mind rules so that out of there is a resolution.

  1. No threats.

    Threats do not help resolve the problem. It is important to stay focused on the issue(s).

  2. No labeling judgments.

    It is important not to use blanket statements such as “You never..” or “you are stupid.” Saying hurtful things only make the other person defensive and not willing to compromise.

  3. Stay on topic.

    Focus on specific problems. Breaking it down to smaller things can help with resolution.

  4. Do not interrupt.

    Be a good listener.

  5. Avoid “Always” or “Never”

    Be realistic. Exaggerating intensifies a conflict.
