Self-awareness
This is the ability to recognize a feeling as it happens. This is also being able to answer the following two questions objectively: What am I doing? Why am I doing it?

Managing mood
This is being able to control how we feel, how long, and how we demonstrate the feelings we have. When situations are emotionally difficult, it is important to reinterpret the situation in a realistic, more optimistic light. Some ways to do so is to engage in self-care such as meditation, prayer, relaxation techniques, exercise, and rest.

Self-motivation
This requires a “I can do this attitude.” Catch negative, self-defeating thoughts as they occur and reframe in less negative terms.

Impulse control or delayed gratification
Impulse control is like an emotional self-regulator. It is the ability to delay a desired impulse in order to reach a goal. It is the ability to resist feelings of not getting what you want now, but in looking at the big picture of achieving a long-term goal.

Social Skills
The better we are at understanding signals that other people put off, the better we are at choosing signals we give to others.
