10 steps for letting go of anger

  1. Awareness

    Become aware of your feelings and behaviors.

  2. Responsibility

    Take responsibility of your emotions and responses

  3. Attitude

    How you approach a situation will greatly influence your success or failure. If you have a positive attitude good things will happen.

  4. Self-Talk

    You have the choice on what you say to yourself. This will determine how you think and feel.

  5. Responsibility over others

    Don’t take responsibility for other people or things you cannot change and don’t have control over.

  6. Resources

    Have a stable support system that encourages positive changes in your life.

  7. Self-care

    People who take care of themselves feel better about who they are and are generally more happy.

  8. Self-Esteem

    Develop positive self-esteem. Those who are perpetually angry have low self-esteem.

  9. Positive coping

    Develop positive coping mechanisms in dealing with anger responses.

  10. Practice

    Practice new coping mechanisms. Journals may be helpful in keeping track of progress.
