10 Things I enjoyed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

  1. Getting the passport

This is a great souvenir to buy and a great way to tour the park. You can by this for $10 at any of the stores. Inside has information about each land and stickers, as well as a pin. In the first section, there are a couple of pages of trivia questions that you must find answers to. There’s a hint as to which land you can find clues. Once you find the answers you can go to the stores designated (Outpost, Beastly Bazaar, Island Mercantile, Disney Outfitters, Mombasa Marketplace, Mandala Gifts, and Serka Zong, Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures). then you can go up to a cast member and tell them the answer to receive a special sticker.

  2. Oasis Exhibits

A great walk through sanctuary by the entrance filled with interesting animals such as giant anteater and exotic bear.

  3. Discovery Island Trails and The Tree of Life

It is a remarkable site, when you see the Tree of Life. There are various Discovery Island Trails that you can take to observe the Tree up close. There is believed to be 366 animals carved in, but I think I only spotted 30! You’ll find creatures such as Galapagos tortoises, lemurs, and cotton-top tamarins.

  4. Doing the Africa’s Kilimanjaro Safari at different times

This is an open air safari vehicle takes you on an fun expedition. There are no fences or rails, so it literally feels as though you have time traveled to Africa. Spanning 100 acres, you will see a variety of animals such as Giraffes, gazelles, elephants, and lions freely roam. When I took the morning ride, I saw a giraffe, which was really close to the truck. When I took the afternoon one, the giraffe was no longer there. Instead we saw a gazelle run through the land. Later I saw a cheetah.

  5. Pagani Forest Exploration Trail in Africa

This is a self-guided walking tour. You will discover birds, meerkats, fish, gorillas, and underwater hippo viewing area.

  6. Taking the Wildlife Express train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch

The train at Harambe Station is the only way in or out of Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Once there, visit conservation Station (learn about interesting facts about animal habitats, nutrition, and research programs). Then you can go outside to the petting yard. There is a number of goats and sheep, including one with a hidden mickey.

  7. Seeing the Flights of Wonder show at Asia

This is a fun free-flight bird show, where birds literally fly above your head. There are a variety of birds that fly in this show, including hawks, owls and falcons. The bald eagle is by far the star in this show.

  8. Wandering the Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia

It is themed as an ancient palace. It houses exotic animals including giant fruit bats, birds, tapirs, komodo dragons, and tigers.

  9. Riding Expedition Everest in Asia

    expedition-everest-picture-008.jpg

This is an unusual high speed train ride that appears to come to end when the track ends. Soon you find yourself hurtling backwards through the caverns. You come face to face with a Yeti, who seems to be playing around with the track, making you go forward once more. This 199 foot tall Forbidden Mountain is sure to leave you with an adrenaline rush.

  10. Riding Dinosaur in DinoLand USA

I am a fan of Disneyland’s Indiana Jones ride, so naturally I enjoyed this one too. It uses the same ride technology. This time your mission is to time travel back to locate the infamous iguanadon. It is a dark, bumpy ride and there are moments that can be scary especially when you come face to face with a animatronic dinosaur.
