It is important that you harbor different hobbies as well as those you can do together. My boyfriend and I love to play golf. It is a great way to spend time with each other. However, we also value our own hobbies to give each other space, as well as provide creative outlets. I like to paint sometimes, while he likes to read books.

Do not withhold information
It is important to communicate with each other regularly and freely. Holding something in can make a situation worse. Disagreements are bound to occur in relationships and it is important to tell your partner. As much as we would want them to read our minds, they don’t. Talking about it earlier can prevent heated arguments.

Relationships are not only about talking to the other person, but listening. This can create a bond of mutual understanding and emotional intimacy.

In getting to know one another, it is important to understand the values that you have and what the other person has.

What keeps a relationship fresh, is the constant work it takes. Understanding the other person, resolving problems, making the relationship work better, all take time and effort. The end reward is unconditional love and commitment.

It is important to agree as a couple to stop saying mean or disrespectful things to each other. Becoming conscious of words we use everyday (including sarcasm) can help nurture a safe and loving relationship.
