It is important to take care of yourself on multiple levels- emotionally, physically, psychologically, and spiritually. Here are things that have worked for me.
-
Taking a walk
It’s a nice way to exercise and enjoy nature. I take breaks during work for a walk and on weekends walk down to the beach or enjoy a light hike in the mountains.
-
Riding a bike
Another way to exercise the stress off and enjoy the scenery.
-
Meditating
Letting my mind go blank is a great way to relax. It is also soothing to listen to yoga music while meditating to center yourself.
-
Swimming
As the summer approaches, this is something I look forward to. Another way of exercising and having fun by the pool.
-
Reading a book or magazine
This is a great way to get more ideas and also improve yourself.
-
Writing a blog
It helps to release ideas into writing and connect with people in the blogosphere.
-
Making a to do list
Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with things that I have to do. When I write out a list, it seems much more manageable.
-
Singing
Belting out my voice with the sound of music is pure bliss.
-
Playing golf
It is a great way to enjoy nature, get exercise, build comradery between players.
-
Dancing
Moving around and being silly can help relieve stressors.
-
Sitting by the beach
Sometimes taking the time to slow down and enjoy the scenery is enough to jump start the day.
-
Drawing
Scribbling is a great way to heighten creativity.
-
Spending time with close family and friends
The soul is nourished when spending quality time with family and friends. It helps to share experiences, concern and offer support to each other.
-
Thinking of things to be thankful for everyday
It helps to think about the positive things in life, as we can become inundated with things not working in our lives.
-
Lighting aromatherapy candles
This is a great way to heighten your sense of smell.
-
Listening to music
Not only is this relaxing, but can also spark your creativity.
-
Taking a vacation
Everyone needs a time off! This is a great way to rejuvenate your body and also have insightful experiences.
-
Watching my diet
Diet can play a huge part in how you feel. For example, eating a lot of sugary products often leaves me feeling sluggish.
-
Getting ample amount of sleep or taking a nap
I need to have at 7 hours a sleep daily or it is hard for me to concentrate.
-
Making time for reflection
Having the space to reflect helps me to see the goals ahead of me and take the challenges that come my way as great learning experiences.
