How to have a fun and Happy Halloween

FOR NON-TRICK OR TREATERS:
-
On Halloween night, motorists need to be especially cautious as there will be many people on the streets. Watch for children walking on roadways, curbs and darting out from between parked cars. Children may be hard to spot because of dark costumes.
-
Trick-or-treaters will approach the doorstop, so it is important for homeowners to remove anything that they could trip on. These include garden hoses, toys, bikes and lawn decorations.
-
Wet leaves should be swept from sidewalks and steps.
-
Restrain pets so they don’t inadvertently jump on or bite a trick-or-treater.
FOR TRICK OR TREATERS:
-
Buy costumes made of fire-retardant materials. Use light-colored materials and strips of reflective tape to make children visible.
-
Avoid using simulated knives, guns or swords. If these props are used, ensure they are soft and flexible to prevent injury.
-
Make sure no portion of the costume is dragging on the ground to prevent yourself or others from tripping.
-
Make sure others can see you. Most of the Halloween activities take place after dark. If your costume doesn’t allow you to wear light colored clothing, use reflective tape to make sure that you will be seen by cars.
-
Carry a cell phone for quick communication.
-
Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk.
