Happy Mother’s Day!

I thought it would be interesting to interview my mom’s thoughts about being a mom on this day. However, my mom found it difficult to answer my questions, which included what are the good things about being a mom, the down side and advice for future moms. She said it was too hard to summarize and said that everything about being a mom was great.

I don’t know what it must feel like to be a mom. I can only assume the wonder and challenges of being with someone that resembles a part of you who evolves from a dependent stage to an independent individual.

I asked my boyfriend and father about their thoughts or perceptions. But my boyfriend obviously didn’t know because he has no kids of his own and he laughed jokingly because he said he would never be a mother.

I asked my dad how my mom has changed after being a mother. He talked about her as having the “glow” of a mom and becoming more wise. In providing for me, he feels that my mom has learned great life lessons.

She is a great mother and I am fortunate to have her. She has been a hard worker all her life, working to support the family financially and fulfilling my childhood. She has made great memories with me including Disneyland (perhaps that is one reason why I love it so much), Walt Disney World, vacations to Las Vegas, watching televisions and movies. She sacrificed so much to make me happy and continues to do so.

Today I plan to take my mom out shopping because that’s what she likes to do. We used to do that a lot more before when we both had more time. We are going to go look at dogs at the local mall and I will buy her her favorite drink at Coffee Bean: a regular size no sugar added ice blended mocha with whip cream. At the end of the day, we will plan a non-mother’s day outing because after all it’s not one day to be thankful of having a wonderful mom.
