Golfer Cartoon

  • Patience

Golf, as with other sports and life events, requires patience from the day you start. Players takes time to understand golf and gain experience. Even when they hit horrible shots and make mistakes, they learn to be able to bounce back and start again. There are many conditions that get in the way of a golfer. For example, the course may curve unexpectedly, trees may appear where you’ve never seen them before, your ball may disappear under leaves or in the water. As in life, there are many challenges to overcome. Only in trusting yourself and being patient, do you see the rewards and become successful.

  • Endurance

Golf is both a physical and mental game. It requires tremendous concentration and physical stamina. Through the obstacles, one has to be resilient and persevere. No matter how challenging it can be, endurance will be your biggest ally. It is what differentiates an average person from successful person. As cliche as it may sound successful people don’t quit easily.

  • Silence is golden

If you’ve ever seen a golf game, there is always a volunteer that puts up the “quiet” sign. Tiger Woods, world renown professional golfer has been noted many times getting angry at the camera men who snapped the picture too early. Golf requires attention and being in the zone. Silence is a tremendous aid for being in this zone. Any noise can distract even the most attentive person.

  • There’s more than one way to get to the end

What makes golf interesting is the different approaches and choices that people make. For example, do they choose to go right to get a clearer shot even though it will take longer or do they go for the more challenging risky power shot to get it as close to the hole as possible. There’s no right or wrong. People pave their own unique roads and approaches to reach success.

  1. Tina – I loved your analogy. You are right on so many levels. Golf like life looks easy when we see a professional playing, but it is quite a bit different when we try. But you’ve got to play it to actually enjoy it.
