As a social worker, I have never gotten used to seeing people hurt or go through a self-destructing behavior. Although I do not know Britney Spears, it is hard to watch her life spiral out of control. It reminds us that even celebrities are human with vulnerabilities.

There are many speculations as to her behavior, but it is hard to find out what is true and what is false. There are many possible factors and included are a few of the articles.

  1. Gradual changes

    Before any drastic changes to your lifestyle, one must consider a gradual course of action. I know for me, I tend to get discouraged quickly. It is much more manageable for me to make little changes. Although the improvement will be gradual, the long-term effect will be significant.

  2. Substitute water for soda

    I didn’t realize how much sugar and calories are in a soda. Of course, I like soda and would want it, but now I think about how filling and disgusting it makes me feel afterwards. You can also tell that soda has a lot of sugar when you let it sit for a while. Once the bubble is gone, it is extremely sugary.

I myself have felt angry and frustrated from driving and being around angry drivers. Having been a big city driver all of my life, I realized that you have to find ways to not stress yourself out or get angry. Here are some ways that have worked for me so I don’t become immersed in the road rage circus.

Happy 2008 everyone! Hope this year will be filled with much happiness and prosperity for you. How do you start off the first day of 2008?
These are ways that I kick off the new year.

  • Japanese style:

    I enjoy helping my parents prepare the osechi ryori (new years food). This is comprised of many ingredients, each symbolizing good health, good harvest, happiness, and nature. My job mostly entails packing them in a jubako (which is a 3 layered lacquered box)- as pictured here:
