How to develop a good relationship with your neighbors
Jan 15th, 2008 by Tina

Whether it be famous celebrity neighbor feuds or citizen feuds, problems with neighbors can be a real pain. Ideally, it will be great to live near neighbors that are friendly and problem-free. Here are some ways that have worked for me.
-
Compromise
Neighbors are human too and that means neighbors can have flaws. There may be things that you don’t necessarily agree with. It’s important to compromise on large matters.
-
Letting little things go
Not all things are worth fighting over. My favorite quote is “pick your battles.” If there’s one weed, crossing onto your property, don’t sweat, just pick it. However, if the next door neighbor’s tree roots are getting into your property, it’s worth talking and figuring out something.
-
Good communication
Merely greeting them regularly makes both parties feel good. No need to be best friends, just normal “Hi’s” help.
-
Building trust
It’s important to build trust because you never know when you will need each other.
-
Looking out for each other
For example, in the house I grew up in, we are especially good friends with our neighbor across the street. They would watch our house, while we are on vacation and we would do the same. They also look out for us on a daily basis. Once when we were out, there was a person who was trying to rob our house, but luckily our neighbor stopped her.
