I often hear this from my friends in relationships and I find myself saying that it my relationship as well. Indeed men and women communicate in a different way. Here are some facts that I have heard from web sources.

  • Men want to problem solve, women want to vent

    Whenever there’s a problem, women tend to want to vent or discuss it. This goes along the lines that there are emotions usually connected to the problem. Everyone practices self-talk, whether it be an skier preparing for the Olympics or a student taking a final or a mom walking a dog. Some of it might be unconscious as well, but it is a natural part of every day life. At first it may not appear to be much, but is actually a powerful tool and can drive what we do or decide to do. How to be prepared for an emergency

Whether it be a natural disaster or an accident, unfortunately it is fair game for anyone to be hurt at anytime. The good news is we can be prepared. From my days as an emergency medical technician and through research, here is a sample of a first aid kit:

Things you should have in one place (I recommend a cheap duffel bag or a storage type container):

  1. sterile gloves (ex. latex or nitrile)

  2. sterile dressings to help stop bleeding (ex. gauzes)

  3. cleansing agent (ex. antibiotic towlettes, Bactine, saline solution)

Child proofing your home to prevent accidents

While interning at Kaiser Permanente’s Pediatrics floor, I encountered many patients that came in for near-drownings in pools, falling out of the windows, and choking on small pieces or poisonous substances. Many of these could have been prevented from up-to-date child proofing of the house. In talking to the parents, most had child-proofed their home, but there were loopholes that they had missed.
