Happy thanksgiving!

turkey

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! What is your typical Thanksgiving day? For me, it is spending time with family and friends, cooking turkey or roast beef and having a feast. It is also a time for me to reflect on some of the aspects of my life I am most grateful for.

  1. To be surrounded by caring people

I am fortunate to have a support system of caring family members and friends. Life can be stressful or overwhelming so it is a great strength to have people that bring stability and balance to my life.

  2. To have a career

Not many people are given the opportunity for a chance at higher education and/or a career path of interest. Although I have shifted my career choices over the years, I appreciate the experience that came along with it. Also, it is a great to be able to support yourself financially. I am now content with my career choice as a medical social worker and blogger. Every day there’s something new and it is a great privilege to be able to learn and gain experience.

  3. Health

I am grateful that the people I care for and myself are all healthy. Working in the hospital, I am humbled and reminded of fragility of life. Also there is something to be said for being able to take preventative measures. In developing countries, children are dying from being deprived of the basic necessity of food and not enough preventative medicine such as a simple vaccine.

I would love to hear of aspects in your life that you are grateful for.

  1. I’m thankful for a great many things. One of which is my Thanksgiving Turkey dinner that I made for the first time in my life… it didn’t make anyone hurl (to my knowledge) and for that I am VERY thankful!
