Pretty straightforward but easy to forget. Addresses are important went traveling internationally. This is to indicate whether you will be visiting a person’s house or staying in a hotel.

airline ticket confirmation, boarding pass (if printed online)

hotel information
It’s great to have the phone number in case you need to contact them for cancellations or information. Also, knowing the check-in and check-out times are also great so that you can plan your day out.

maps
good old maps are still good especially if you are driving. These can be obtained at various bureaus or if you are a AAA member, these are free. Google maps are also convenient.

always important in case something happens.
-

transportation information
various places have interesting transportation methods, albeit the subway, water taxi, regular taxi, car, etc.

look up current airport policies and procedures, ample time at the airport before boarding
Post 9-11 there have been many restrictions at the airport. It will be detrimental to get to the airport and be faced with a surprise “all your stuff is gone because you didn’t follow directions” reality. Whether it be quart size bottles inside ziploc bags, it’s better to be prepared. TSA website clearly outlines these restrictions.
