Gene Autry Museum: A Fun Trip Report
Oct 4th, 2007 by Tina

Part of the way I relax and manage stress is by taking short, fun day excursions. No matter where you live, there are great areas to visit. Recently I took a trip with my boyfriend to the Autry National Center Museum of the American West in Los Angeles, California. We took about two hours to explore the museum.
These were the great highlights:
-
Learning that Gene Autry was the singing cowboy
-
Saw the various awards including the Platinum Columbia record that Gene Autry won.
-
Seeing the the Gene Autry Guitar
-
Viewing the Angels World Series Ring
-
Observing the beautiful photographs of the Native Americans
-
Viewing the elaborate oil paintings and sculpture of Western lands during the 19th and 20th centuries.
-
One gallery was like walking onto an old western movie set. There was one area where we could be in front of a blue screen and pretend to be a cowgirl.

-
There were elaborate cowboy and cowgirl costumes, as well as movie props.
-
We walked to the outdoor trails where we even saw some kids panning for gold.
