I found my passion through blogging when I started reading blogs. It was not until I started journaling for fun that I realized that I too could start blogging. I found it exciting to write about relationships, reflect upon my own life and views. Here are 5 more reasons that blogging could help with your personal development.

  1. Networking

Internet is a wonderful tool to connect with people all over the world. One way to utilize the internet is through blogging. You can comment on other blogs, have discussions in forums and even join blogging contests. Just recently I came across a blog contest put on by David Airey, a Edinburgh logo designer. As part of his anniversary, he has recently launched a prize giveaway worth more than $4000. There are variety of prize giveaways that are creative and useful. The sponsors include:

Custom Wordpress theme design: Nate Whitehill

    Personal Marketing/advertising: Maki

Hosting and blog set up: John Boardley

    Blogging tips: Lorelle VanFossen

    Professional Blogging: Darren Rowse

  2. Write away the stress

Writing is one of the ways you can release stress. In social work, one of the therapeutic techniques is to do journaling. It feels good to release what you are thinking in writing. Indeed in blogging, everyone can see it, but you can still write out everything and edit it later.

  3. Fighting boredom

Blogging can be great in fighting boredom. Blogging can be a hobby or a career. It is a great option. I usually get bored at night after I’m done with a hard’s days work and I write my thoughts in google docs. I like to manage my time so sometimes I will even blog while watching the news.

  4. Self-reflection and realization

When blogging, you naturally read other blogs. In doing so, you can gain insight and improve yourself. There are many blogs that give great tools on enhancing your life. It ranges from diet tips to motivational tips to working effectively.

  5. Challenging

Challenge can be a great thing and blogging can be a challenge especially if you want it to be successful. I am already finding how time consuming it can be. However, as with any challenges, it can be rewarding. When you see people commenting and your readership increasing, it is a great feeling.
