  • Sitting in front of the TV to watch CSI, 24, ER, sports!

Aren’t there times where you just want to get away, but you can’t because of time or work. TV can be a great supplement. Having a few good shows can not only be relaxing, but rejuvenating. After a hard days of work, it’s nice to be able to just sit down on the couch and watch TV. There’s nothing wrong with being a couch potato, well in moderation that is.

  • Taking a nap

Getting the right amount of sleep is always important. I also believe that 8 hours of sleep might not work for everyone. Some people feel 6 hours is sufficient, while others need 8 hours. It all depends on you! I know when I don’t get on average 6 hours of sleep, I have difficulty concentrating. Just taking a brief nap (20 min-50 min) can help rejuvenate your body, as well as sustain energy levels. This has been particularly effective for me on the “all-nighter” days. Also, going into deep sleep or REM (repetitive eye movement) sleep allows for dreaming.

  • Reading books or magazines

When I don’t want to think about school or work, I love to read magazines that are fun like People Magazine or Time Magazine. Other times, I feel like I want to gain more, explore what I am passionate about so I read the entrepreneur magazines or the Get rich books.

  • Excursions to museums, Disneyland, beach, shopping mall

You can still experience some of the joys of traveling through brief, inexpensive drives to various areas. The weekend trips have helped me so much! You can’t underestimate the power of day trips.

  • Stimulating my creativity by drawing

I realized that you don’t have to be Picasso to draw. The mere motion of drawing helps to release feelings of stress, overwhelming thoughts, anger. It’s fun being able to be free to draw anything.

  • Soaking in a hot bubble bath

Simple but relaxing! Hot bubble bath can help loosen the muscles that are tense from all the stress.

  • Feeling rejuvenated by playing the piano and singing

It has been proven that music helps you relax. Ask the music therapists!

  • Relaxation exercises (deep breathing techniques)

When we are stressed, we tend to breathe faster, our hearts pumping blood much faster, allowing us to feel anxious. Simply taking a deep breath and closing your eyes can help you to not be so nervous or stressed.

  • Exercising

Physical exercise can help increase energy levels and help you feel positive. It also doesn’t have to be a rigorous 2 hour regimen every day unless you are trying out to be a Navy Seal or professional athlete.

  • Enjoying quality time with family and friends

Last but not least having moral support can help tremendously. It’s important to care for yourself emotionally because then you will have the power to fight stress.
